The Importance of Prayer“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way:” Colossians 1:9-10 We at YFC desire to be a praying people. Why? Well, for several reasons. 1. Prayer is a great privilege. Can you think of any greater honour than to have an audience with the one who rules over all creation? 2. Prayer (conversation with God) is a part of any vital and growing relationship. 3. We pray because we are in a fierce battle. Constantly we are warned of the devil’s intention to destroy us, and we need the help of God. 4. Prayer is a deterrent to sin in our lives. God holds a mirror up to our lives so we can see the way we really are, and repent. 5. Prayer makes a difference. Circumstances change when people pray. But more importantly, our own hearts are changed. Prayer isn’t a magic formula. Nor is it Shakespearean English, with theological terminology lasting for hours. It is quite simply, talking openly and honestly with God. Open up your heart to him, tell him what’s on your mind and on your calendar - he loves to hear from his children. It doesn’t have to take place at a certain time, place or posture; true prayer is honest, humble and personal. If you would like to pray for us, we would be extremely thankful! See below for our list of prayer points (last updated 16/03/11). 1. Stability in Egypt following the resignation of President Mubarak. 2.
